A place for
every dimension.

Choose a model scale with the display in mind. Convert a bounding box, check the fit, and compare your options before the detailed design begins.

01 Real object

Enter the outside bounding box, including any parts that project beyond the main body.

02 Model & display

Usable display space in millimetres. Deduct the base, cover, packing and any clearance before entering these values. Axes stay aligned; no rotation is assumed.

Length and width limit the fit. The boundary has no spare clearance.

A FEW OPTIONS, SIDE BY SIDE

Compare candidate scales

Dimensions use your chosen output unit. “Fits” checks all three display axes, with no rotation or extra clearance.

THE WORKED EXAMPLE

A 12 m assembly,
a 300 mm display.

A 12 × 8 × 6 m object at 1:50 becomes 240 × 160 × 120 mm. Within a 300 × 200 × 250 mm usable display, that leaves 60, 40 and 130 mm spare along the three axes.

The largest aligned box that fits is at 1:40: 300 × 200 × 150 mm. It touches the length and width limits. For handling room or a cover, use a larger denominator or reduce the available space first.

Understand the method

A GEOMETRY CHECK, NOT A BUILD APPROVAL

Small details need
their own decisions.

Mathematical scaling shrinks everything. A 10 mm real wall becomes just 0.2 mm at 1:50. Whether it can be made, handled or seen depends on material, process, orientation and the purpose of the model.

Allow for simplified details, deliberately enlarged features, joints, wall thickness and a supporting base during design review.
